As a self-employed worker, should you be called to attend court as a juror, it may leave you wondering what to do about your income, especially if it turns out to be a prolonged case you’re sitting in on. Our policy covers you for this loss of income (up to £500 per day with a £5,000 total limit).

Jury Service & Legal Protection provides up to £50,000 for legal defence costs in the event that a third party brings a claim against you, as well as covering instances where you wish to bring a claim against a third party.

Jury Service and Legal Protection is a business insurance policy that provides cover for loss of income in the event that you’re called up for jury service.

It also covers up to £50,000 of legal costs involved with a range of legal disputes such as debt recovery and contract disputes.

Legal action isn’t cheap, but that shouldn’t stop you from putting up a good defence or seeking the support you need to get the outcome you deserve.

Legal expenses insurance is a key policy for anyone concerned that they may not be able to shoulder the cost of legal action taken against them.

Not only this, but our Jury Service and Legal Protection goes one step further, covering you for loss of income in the event that you are called up for jury duty during a contract. Almost anyone above the age of 18 can be called up for jury service at any time. With the right cover you have one less thing to worry about.

If you get called up for jury service, your policy will give you up to £500 per day with a total limit of £5,000 to help you with your income whilst you’re unable to work.

To claim, you’ll need to provide us with:

  1. Evidence of your day rate e.g. a copy of your contract
  2. A copy of your summons letter
  3. Confirmation form from the courts that jury service was attended

Your policy will pay out the amount you lost from attending, less any recovery provided by the court. So, if your day rate is £300 per day and the court gives you £50 per day, we’ll give you £250 for up to 20 days of jury service. If your day rate is £700 per day (kudos!) then we’ll pay you £500 per day for up to 10 days of jury service.
